To fulfill this #RPGaDay item, I must choose from a LOT of RPGs that I’ll never get to play.
I suppose that if I had to pick one it would probably be the Esoterrorists (2nd Edition) by Robin D. Laws. It uses the GUMSHOE system, which is pretty cool.
The core philosophy of this mystery-themed system is that it’s all about how the players use the clues that they find, not whether or not that they can even find them in the first place. In other words, if your character has the right investigative skill, you can find clues that fall under your expertise. No roll is necessary.
The Esoterrorists is briefly described as:
You are elite investigators combating the plots of the Esoterrorists, a loose affiliation of occult terrorists intent on tearing the fabric of the world.
You’re a band of globe-trotting occult investigators. Pretty nifty! I love the idea of this setting and the rules going with it.
However my usual players are either pretty sick of occult horror or they are far too invested in the World of Darkness system. SIGH. Oh well, some day, perhaps.
